I have to admit I'm already thinking about next year...

Hi Reader,

Well, next year (the 26-27 school year) isn't far away! In fact, I have less than a month until teachers officially return.

I have already started thinking about what routines and new curriculum I will be putting into place for this new school year. The more I can plan for NOW, the better prepared I feel all year long. I'd love to hear what is on your mind right now (if anything at all).

☀️ During this period of summer, I tend to...

⭐ Start planning year-long routines: These are things like spiral review, independent work while I work with other students, enrichment, etc. I always make my Reading Skill of the Day notebooks during the summer and prep August Literacy Skill of the Week and Math Word Problem of the Day to start during week two of school.

⭐ Prep curriculum resources that I will use regularly: In particular, I tend to prep my Giggles and Grammar resources (I make them into grammar booklets so they are ready to go all year), mental math task cards, novel study journals and choice boards, etc.

⭐ Look for a couple new ideas: Yep! This is year 18 for me, and I'm ALWAYS looking for ways to change it up a little bit. Not only because kids and trends change, but to keep things fresh for me as an educator and try new strategies I've read about over the summer. Some things I've tried and loved in the past include Book Beads, Weekly Morning Meeting Read Alouds, and Weekly Letter Writing as Homework.

⭐ Finalize my First Week Plans: These are the plans that I tend to spend more time on than any other time of year! Luckily, I have compiled them all so it's nice and easy now. You can download them for FREE here!

⭐ Prep my Emergency Sub Plans: This one speaks for itself. I created these FIVE DAYS worth of sub plans a few years ago, and they save me EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ NEW Morphology Resources and MORE Coming Soon! On top of my own classroom planning, we are busy working on some amazing resources to support you next year. We have completed our entire Morphology Minutes set of resources (HOORAY!), new Prefix and Suffix Partner Plays, and several teaching slide sets. There is so much more to come, including a morphology spiral review careffully designed to review important morphology and entire morphology curriculum that is DOABLE and impactful. Keep an eye out!

Have a wonderful week!

Mary
