One of the best things I've EVER implemented into my classroom is Morning Meeting. I really amped it up when I started incorporating picture books into it regularly. If you are shopping at Goodwill or hunting at garage sales this summer, start searching for some of my favorite books to use, and grab the companions to start prepping now. You won't regret it.

Hi Reader, Can you believe it's almost back-to-school time already? Today is officially one week until I'm back at school. Hi Reader, Well, I am officially two weeks away from being back in school, and this year I'm changing positions AND rooms! So yesterday, I dragged my sweet family to the school, and we spent the entire day moving everything from one room to another. It was a MESS (and honestly, it still is) since we didn't really pack anything, but I'm relieved the bulk of the move is done. Now the real fun begins! As I was prepping my classroom, I started thinking about some of the traditions I've built in...

Hey there! I promised you the back-to-school activity your students won't forget, and that whole forgetting part is exactly why I created it! For years, I had my students set thoughtful goals (or so I thought). Then October rolled around... and they'd forgotten them. We'd quickly revisit those goals before conferences and move on. January came, we'd review them again, and many students needed another reminder of what they'd even written. At some point, I realized this just wasn't working....
